Abstract

Because of their prominent technical features, especially with high wind energyefficiency, compact bodies, and other aspects of the advantages, large horizontal axis windturbines have become the main development direction of wind turbines. The blades are oneof the most important elements of a wind turbine, and optimizing their aerodynamiccharacteristics is the main direction of researching the new efficient blade, then they willcapture more wind power. This paper researches the blades of1.5MW horizontal axis wind turbines, and themain contents of which are as follows.(1) The basic theories related with the design of the blade had been researched. Thetheories mainly include Betz theory, vortex theory, momentum theory, blade element theory.(2) The method of establishing3D model of blade had been researched. Based onWilson method, mathematical model of blade could be established. After calculating the keyparameters, choosing appropriate airfoil profile, the3D solid model of blade could beestablished by Profili, AutoCAD and Pro/E. The data of model could be transferred withport among the softwares.(3) The flow field model within the blade was established. By using multiple referenceframe, the flow field could be divided into the internal rotated field and the external fixedfield. Establishing two kinds of the flow field could simulate real operating condition of theblade. It could save clculating time, and improve efficiency. Finally, the force on the blade’ssurface and the change of the flow filed were available.(4) Using the technology among the softwares’ interfaces could make the blade’s staticanalysis and prestressed model analysis, then reflect the real structural designing conditionof the blade. The structure of blade could be optimized according to the result of the flowfield calculation. After mapping the load and disposing the stress on the finite elementmodel surface, aeroelastic static stability and dynamic stability could be researched. It wasbetter coincident with the actual situation.
