Abstract


Through more than 30 years implementation in China, TQM has been proven by large amount practices to be an effective theory and methodology of quality management. As for a specified organization, there is a lot to be studied to set up an effective quality management system based on the organization’s uniquenesses. In fact, there are many problems for small and medium companies to effectively implement quality management in China now. The thesis takes Pingyin Aluminum Company of Feicheng Mining Group Co., Ltd. as the example and conducts research on how to apply ISO 9001 quality management system and TQM.The thesis combines quality management theory and business practice and conducts both qualitative and quantitative analysis. The research starts from the reengineering practice after bankrupcy of the company and analyzes the critical problems in quality management and their root causes. Based on the recent 4 years operational experiences and current business situations, the thesis employes ISO 9000 and TQM as ground theory and method to improve company’s quanlity management system. Several innovative management measures are presented including integrating quality management functions with economic review department, integrating production and technology management with marketing system, setting up marketing and quality control quick-pass, implementing deposite for quality risk etc. Through setting up continuous quality improvement infrastructure and mechanism, and using PDCA and QC tools, the company improves its quality management and successfully gets the ISO 9000 certification.The thesis concludes through practice that it is pratical and neccessary for an oganization to implement TQM theory based on its uniqueness. For small and medium companies, quality management suystem can not be“copy and paste”. Above conlcusions may provide helpful references for small and medium companies in China.
