Single Center Clinical Analysis of Elderly Breast Cancer Patients in Yunnan Province

Abstract


Objective To explore the clinical characteristics and treatment strategies of breast cancer in the elderly patients. Search for part Yunnan province elderly breast cancer characteristics in our hospital.Methods Retrospective analysis of clinical data and telephone follow-up results between January2005and December2005,53cases of elderly patients with breast cancer (≥65) who was born and live in Yunnan province for a long time, select112cases of young breast cancer patients (≤45) in the same period to compare,23～96months follow-up time. Elderly group data related epidemiological analysis and compared with young group data, obtained from Yunnan province epidemiological and clinical treatment of senile breast cancer related characteristics in our hospital.Results Patients are all female, compared with young breast cancer patients, the elders characterized by high complication rate (84.9%to21.4%,p<0.01), Late cancer stage (middle-late stage54.7%to25.9%, p<0.05), HER-2positive rate is lower (20.8%to38.4%, p<0.05), Lower proportion of chemotherapy (73.6%to93.8%, p<0.01), chemotherapy tolerance difference (proportion of completed chemotherapy68.2%to95.2%, p<0.01). In addition, lower postoperative outpatient follow-up rate (38.8%to89.1%, p<0.01), the endocrine treatment of poor medication compliance (46.5%to86.1%, p<0.01); Postoperative5-year survival rate for85.4%.Conclusion Elderly patients with breast cancer disease proportion high, late clinical stage, HER-2positive rate is low, tumor chemotherapy resistance is poor, the endocrine treatment adherence is poor, individualized treatment should be aimed at the patient’s condition is adopted. The Yunnan province elderly patients with breast cancer in our hospital because of education and economy level limit, outpatient visit rate and postoperative medication adherence level lower than the similar literatures.
