Abstract


Sanzhou Jilue written by Heying was one of the local literatures of the WesternRegions in the Qing Dynasty, which mainly recorded the information among Urumqi,Turpan and Hami before the twelfth year in the Jiaqing period. The three districtswere under governed by the Urumqi Yamen at that time but belonged to Yi-zhou,Xi-zhou and Ting-zhou in the Tang Dynasty.The book is rich in content including important historical events and folkores.Heying was the governer of the three districts when he was writing it, so he had agood understanding of these areas and he was able to quote a lot of archives in hisbook. These records have precious historical value for it offers scholars firsthandmaterials about Xinjiang of the Qing Dynasty.Historical materials of Hami in Sanzhou Jilue can be found in various chaptersexcepting the history of Hami which is concentrated in the first chapter. This papercollects the information of Hami in the book and analyses them carefully in order togive a whole picture of the record of Hami.Up to now, researches on Sanzhou Jilue mainly focus on its versions and theauthor’s life, but there is a lack of the intensive study of its text besides using it as thecites. Based on close reading, comparing and analysing, this paper discusses aboutrecords of Hami in the book and trys to point out its historical material sources andvalue.This thesis can be divided into four parts.The first chapter is the introduction which contains the research summary aboutSanzhou Jilue.The second chapter is the textual research on the historical material source ofHami in Sanzhou Jilue. There are three main sources, firstly the author’s experienceand comments, secondly historical records before the Qing Dynasty, thirdly historicalrecords of the Qing Dynasty.The third chapter discusses the historical value of Hami materials in SanzhouJilue. By comparing with other local literatures about the Western Region of theQing Dynasty, this part explains values of these records including the literaturalmaterials.The fourth part analyses the characteristic and the drawback of materials ofHami in Sanzhou Jilue.
