Abstract


Liao Dynasty depends on its strong army, the army by which it develops and comesstronger. In the process of the Khitan army defending enemies and going out to thecampaigns, the Quartermaster Equipments also play an important role. In this paper, theLiao Army Quartermaster Equipment acts as the researched object and this aspect will beresearched to a fully and systematic degree.In the first chapter, a brief overview of the Liao army will be shown on, includingthe setting of the Liao Dynasty military institutions, as well as the different military arms;Chapter Ⅱ describes the forage demand situation in the Liao Dynasty army. Chapter Ⅲdescribes the transportation of equipment in the Liao Dynasty army quartermaster. Firstly,it introduces the warhorses in the army and its status, mainly including the source of thewarhorses, the management and the equipment.Secondly, it’s about the status of the Liaoarmy military vehicles, and finally it talks about the Warships. In the Chapter Ⅳ,weaponry equipment of Liao army Quartermaster Equipment will be introduced. Thefirst part is about the most important arms in military weapons and equipments---bowsand arrows, followed by other cold weapons and many types of production and storage;again, it discusses the application and the savage of the artillerist. Chapter Ⅴ will explorethe protective equipment of Liao Quartermaster Equipment. The most import part is thePersonal protective equipment, such as armors, including the structural styles andproduction, followed by the situation of levee facilities. Chapter VI is mainly to explorethe role of the Liao army quartermaster equipment in actual combats, through specificwars in the Liao Dynasty foreign conquests, divided into the role of defensive wars withforeign enemies and the out campaign the role. The effect is also divided into positiveand negative sides. Finally, a summary overview will be made to illustrate the urgencyand importance of the various dynasties Army Quartermaster Equipment Research in ourhistory at this stage. The following is a brief analysis of the effects of Liao Dynasty ArmyQuartermaster Equipment to later dynasties Quartermaster systems, and the warning tothe future generations, as well as the useful reference for the establishment of the modernarmy quartermaster equipments.
