Abstract


Globalization and modernization have become an irreversible trend. Multicultural coexistence and protection of human culture’s diversity is the common expectations of human society. As an important part of multiculturalism, Minority languages and culture should be well protected, which relates to important practical significance. As the inheritance people of the minority culture, they are supposed to integrate into the mainstream society, with the mission of extending their own culture meanwhile. Therefore, in order to realize this achievement, they have to turn to bilingual teaching in the language acquisition. Practice has proved that bilingual teaching is one of the effective ways to preserve and develop ethnical language and culture.In late 1950s, Guangxi Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching had began, which is still in the experimental stage. With the increasing development of economy, and the deepening modernization of our country, Guangxi Zhuang language and culture in such a process is being gradually assimilated and even being faced with a situation of extinction which causes Zhuang-Han bilingual education into an unprecedented predicament. This research, bases on the related theories from cultural anthropology, multi-cultural theory, theory of language learning to bilingual education theory, using such methods as literatures, questionnaires, interviews and field survey. Through a in-depth field study of Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching experimental school in GuangXi, we know that Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching makes a large contribution to improve the education teaching quality of Zhuang nationality region. And it also played a large role for saving and preserving Zhuang nationality’s language and culture. However, under the new historical conditions, the Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching in GuangXi will still faces more and more pressure and challenge. This study want to know the problems and causes of Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching in GuangXi. On this basis, we want to proposed some specific suggestions and recommendations. It will provide theoretical and practical basis for the relevant government departments. And it will provide a new ideas for the Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching in GuangXi. This study, on one hand, aims at solving the current grim situation of Guangxi Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching; on the other hand, it also focuses on the preservation and development of the Zhuang language and culture, which has an important realistic meaning and far-reaching historic significance. At the same time, it can provides the study materials of case for other multi-ethnic and multi-language region dealing with similar issues.Five following parts form the text mainly:The first part is an introduction, which is a brief account of the aim and significance of the topic, the thinking pattern of this research and methodologies of the research, the present achievements for researches on bilingual teaching and the Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching, and the basic contents of the article, etc.The second part is the history of Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching in Guangxi, formed by two parts:the first is the formulation and promulgation of "Zhuang program"; the second is the history of Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching in Guangxi.The third part is about field survey, taking MG town of Guigang city as sample, describes the background of bilingual teaching and its results. From the attitude towards the Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching, course objectives of the experimental school, course settings, teaching process and teaching evaluation to conduct of questionnaire and interview. And use the methods of anthropology theme to introduce the views of education administrators, teachers,students and parents, do appropriate analysis from the perspective of class cultural studies,objectively demonstrate different points of view of education administrator, implemented and being implemented of the bilingual teaching, researchers. Which reveal the real situation of Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching.The fourth part analyzed the effect factors of Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching in Guangxi. It includes bilingual teachers’training, teaching materials construction of Zhuang, defects and practicality of Zhuang characters, funding of bilingual teaching.The fifth part, based on the analysis of constraints, it proposed some countermeasures and suggestions for Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching. I think that Zhuang-Han bilingual teaching will have two paths:The first, we can lead Zhuang language and text into the ordinary school classes by means of school-based curriculum. It can follow the path of universal development. The second, we can found a Zhuang context institute to integrate the existing education resources of Zhuang. Its purpose is to train the experts of Zhuang. It is the path of development of elite.
