Comparative Study of Moral Education in Middle School Chinese Education between Mainland, HongKong and Taiwan

Abstract


Chinese textbook is the carrier to achieve the goal of Chinese course. Meanwhile,with the feature of humansim and instrumental, it is also the basis of study for teacherand students. This paper takes the textbooks of Mainland, HongKong and Taiwan asthe researching object, and compares the patriotism education, moral education andlife education, through the feature of text, genre and writing method to accomplish theresearch. Thus we can master the characteristics and differences of moral educationvalue. Refering to the textbooks of HongKong and Taiwan, this paper has thesignificance for improving quality, completing function and enhancing reforming oftextbooks.(1) In patriotism education, there are many texts of the three regions, whichmainly involving historical sites, slenic spots and national emotions. It can be seenthat they are pay more attention to patriotism. But there are some differences in thetexts. The articles in Mainland textbooks are more widely, HongKong and Taiwan areprimary for native culture and historical sites.(2) In moral education, the texts of the three regions are mainly about citizeneducation, traditional virtues and moral education. But Mainland pays more attentionto citizen and moral education, while HongKong emphasizes on traditional virtuesand moral education, Taiwan emphasizes on traditional virtues education.(3) In life education, Mainland, HongKong and Taiwan all concentrate on settingup right value of life. From the life phenomenon, experiences, understanding and theappreciating of life, the textbooks reflect revering and adoring life. The articles ofMainland are richly, which reflects the understanding and appreciating of theindividual, others and nature life. While, HongKong pays more attention to the valuesand meaning of life, Taiwan emphasizes on the expression of life by individual.Through the comparing of the Chinese textbook between Mainland, HongKong andTaiwan, we should care about self-worth of life in patriotism, and strengthen theosmosis in moral education, while life education should be based on cherishing life.
