Abstract


Higher education in China is facing great pressures and challenge in the situation of rapid economic development. The popularity and marketization of higher education promoted the development of our country’s economy, but how to solve the problem of training technical talent is still a question for higher education. In this premise, the cooperative education is the best way to solve this problem, and it has great potential in China.The cooperative education is from the United States at first, and then Canada introduced it in the1950’s, getting the quick development. The cooperative education integrates with academic study and real-world work experience, and enables students to master the knowledge in theory and the ability in society. Many countries in the world accept it.Our country began to learn the experience from Canadian universities in1980s, such as the mode of "one year of three terms, alternating work and study" from university of Waterloo. Then there are a lot of universities following it. But we also have many problems in cooperative education.This article tries to study the development of cooperative education of Canadian universities and then to introduce the present situation of it. In the light of specific conditions in China, the article discuses the necessity and feasibility of our implementation of cooperative education, analyses the problems we have come across, and proposes countermeasures which suit for China.The first chapter talks about the necessity of cooperative education in China, basting on China’s current situation in universities, and makes the purpose of this research, significance, then puts forward the key points, difficulties and innovations through the analysis of the results of the previous studies.The second chapter introduces the history of cooperative education of Canadian universities, and draws the conclusion that the cooperative education adapting to the social development in Canada.The third chapter introduces the present situation of cooperative education of Canadian universities, and summarizes the experience of Canadian universities.The last chapter discuses the necessity and feasibility of cooperative education in China, analyses the problems we have come across, and proposes countermeasures which suit for China.
