With wireless communication technology and the various communications standardsdevelopment, wireless communication products have many complex functions and also supportmultiple frequency bands. The internal circuitry of the wireless products is more and more complex,so the reserved space for the wireless terminal products’antenna is little. As we know there aremany wireless products in the market, people have many choices when they buy wireless products.Many people like to buy small and portable wireless products. Today the highly integrated circuitcan meet the demand for miniaturization of the wireless devices, the antenna size become the“bottleneck”of the wireless products. So the antenna design trend is small, multi-band, broad bandand so on.Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology become a most important non-contactautomatic identification technology in recent years. It is widely used in industry, commercial,transportation and many other fields. With the development of the RFID technology, RFID systemis also small, easy to conformal, low-cost, low loss. The antenna of the RFID system plays a vitalrole in the RFID system,because the communication method of the RFID tags and readers isnon-contact communication. The antenna is receiving and radiating electromagnetic wave. Thesmall RFID system need small antenna. So the smaller antenna is also very important for the RFIDsystem, and it becomes the research focus of the RFID technology.In this paper, we study the radiation mechanism of the SIW cavity back slot antenna, and usingthe folded substrate integrated waveguide method to achieve the purpose of the antennaminiaturization. In addition, we study the feed network technology of the antenna array and design1x2, 2x2 antenna arrays. Finally, we study the RFID tag antenna miniaturization technology anddesign two RFID tag based on the Allien Higgs3 UHF chip.The result shows that the antenna has good radiation performance, the impedance bandwidth of140MHz and maximum gain of 6.4dBi. The design RFID tag antenna achieves a good matchbetween the antenna and the chip. The maximum reading distance can reach 6.5 meter.
