Abstract


In the recent years, with the rapid development of WLAN technology, the standardization of itbecomes the focus of engineers all over the world. In1997, IEEE proposed WLAN protocol standard802.11, which makes specifications of MAC Layer and Physical Layer of OSI. MAC Layer mainlytakes charge of wireless media accessing mechanism and data transmission, which is the key pointand challenge of WLAN technology research.The major works of the paper are as follows:1、we introduce IEEE802.11WLAN topology and MAC frame structure,study the mediaaccessing mode and backoff mechanism in detail, on the basis of MAC Layer management structure,explain the management operations, such as scanning networks, authentication, association and so on.2、The research scheme is designed to apply SDL development tool, Telelogic Tau SDL Suite, tocomplete the description,implementation and verification of802.11MAC protocol.This researchscheme not only provides a deeper way to understand802.11MAC protocol, but also makes us masterthe method and process of the research of communication protocols.And it can overcome thedisadvantage of high complexity and low accuracy of the traditional protocol research scheme.3、In the process of protocol implementation, the syntactic errors，the semantic errors and theerrors occurred during the process of SDL mapping to C languageare are detected and the detailedsolutions to various errors are provided.The solutions mentioned can not only solve the problemsduring the802.11MAC protocol implementation,but also have versatility and can solve theimplementation problems of other protocols.4、After implementing the protocol, we verifies the data units and management units in MACprotocol respectively. Through the observation and analysis of generated MSC during the verificationprocess, the conclusion can be reached that the802.11MAC protocol designed in the article agreeswith802.11MAC specifications.Although the researches of802.11MAC protocol have been carried out for a long time, but mostof the work is just modeling and description of the protocol and the further study of protocolimplementation and verification has not been taken.The implementation and verification of the802.11MAC protocol of the paper can make up the shortfall.
