Abstract


Compared with traditional cellular networks, next generation cellular mobile communication system has changed greatly in the fields including transmission technologies, network architectures, business supporting and service environment. Due to these changes, the traditional methods of wireless network planning, optimization and management are no longer efficient. According to the new changes and new characteristics, wireless self-organization network (SON) is proposed to meet the technical requirements of the new generation communication systems, and improve self-organizing ability of the network.An SON testbed is introduced in this paper, in order to emulate the wireless SON and evaluate performances of the self-configuration and self-optimizing algorithms in SON, in the view of engineering practice. Firstly, the overall architecture, module design and implementation process are designed and implemented in detail. Further, on the basis of the testbed, the covering self-optimization techniques and interference self-optimization techniques are designed and emulated. Finally, the actual validation and evaluation of self-optimizing function is provided based on the testbed.The main innovations of this paper include:Firstly, Based on the Software Defined Radio technology, an SON testbed was designed and implemented. Further, the SON technology was validated and evaluated in the view of engineering practice.Secondly, the coverage optimization algorithm and interference optimization algorithm are designed from the aspects of user-triggered and network forecast. And the proposed algorithms are validated in the testbed. Finally, based on the testbed, the complete triggering and execution process is achieved, and the evaluation of algorithm is made.
