Abstract


Fan handicraft is one of the most important intangible cultural heritage in China. It is an old and famous enterprise. As found by the research of literature, the existing digital design of plane figure can solve part of the problem arising from the element library combination design and simple images’digital design in fan products’rapid design. However, until now, there are no relevant applications aiming at fan products due to the unique structure and diverse personalized designs, as well as its distinctive mathematics laws.This paper studies three main fan products which contain folding fan, round fan and sandalwood fan. And it mainly talks about how to resolve three setbacks in fans-designing, namely low efficiency in rapid design activities of plain decoration, like fan ribs, fan surface, characters, lack of professional design software, diversity of consumer preferences. By analyzing and studying the product categories and elements of fan products, software programs have been compiled based on consumers’need. In addition, the parametric digital design and innovative combination of design which are also based on consumers’ need have attributed to achieve the rapid design and good performance of fan handicraft. They are all based on five technical ideas, namely element library, combined innovative design, user participation in design, color image extraction, quickly generate decorative details.This study chooses CorelDraw as the development platform, and VBA as the development tool. The study has developed the prototype system of computer-aided intelligent design on folding fan, round fan and sandalwood fan. And the system can improve design efficiency of fan products. Meanwhile, it promotes users’ participation in the design process through the "design with users’ participation". On the other hand, this is the important measure on conservation-oriented development of Chinese traditional culture.
