Abstract


In recent years, the longevity of enterprises has gradually become enterprises a hot topic by enterprises and academy. For a company, people not only focus on the creation of interests, but also more concern with survival life. Every year, tens of thousands of enterprises are in the repeat on the story of the birth and death. Many enterprises in the market are only between gleams of existence. As we have learned, the domestic and foreign enterprises are less than a natural person for the average life expectancy. How to improve the enterprise survival life has become an important question in the process of enterprise developmentSurvival pressure force more and more entrepreneurs and scholars will gaze from the enterprise’s profit model to how to extend the enterprise life problems. In1997, the famous Dutch scholar Arie de Geus (1997) put forward the concept of the living company. The research based on the30companies with the history over100years found that they all have some personal characteristics and pass it between the generation and generation. He proposed that a living company should have four basic characteristics:To be sensitive to the surroundings; A cohesive force, and the staff has strong sense of identity; For almost revolutionary activities take tolerant attitude; There is the conservative attitude In finance. The bringing forward of the concept triggered many entrepreneurs and scholars’attention. More and more research focus on the living company. In2002, the United States magazine Family Business published the oldest hundred enterprise list in the world, and the old family business with thousand history were drawn into people’s field of vision. While people admire the Japanese living companies, they also think about the cause of the living.For the longevity of enterprise, the paper extracts several core living factors through the process of literature analysis. The case study for the Kongo Gumi and the Hoshi Hotel supplement and verify the enterprise living factor, moreover constructs the living factor model. in the organization, management, and leadership levels. The focus of this paper is to enrich the existing research on the living company by the process of exploring the common living factors. In the operating process of studying, this paper adopted literature review and case study combined. In the literature analysis process, the paper use the method of three steps for coding, and make use of Nvivo8.0software to analysis55pieces of literatures, and discover existed literature about the living company research, refining out six core factors. In case analysis part, this paper selects out of the top two on the list of the world’s most ancient enterprise public by the famous American Family enterprise periodical Family Business Review (2002). The histories of the two companies are both more than one thousand years, which are the typical case of living company. There is the positive significance for the modern enterprise.
