At present, most auto-mapping system on geologic plane/section is programmed with CAD or GIS technology. The point, line and surface drawn by the CAD-based software is only graphic element. By component GIS technology, most GIS-based software only focused on single or simplified geological object based on vertical drilling. To solve the problems and the deficiency above, this paper carried out a study on the automatic mapping of geologic plane/section based on the subject of "digital mine" which is an sub-project of the Ministry of land resources crisis mine project "monographic research on metallogenic regularity and prediction in ZhiJiaDi, Shanxi province, China".Taking the drilling/tunnel as the representation of exploration engineering, the paper analyzed data model of geological project and object in geological plane/section, and formed the conceptual, logic, three-dimensional and calculation data model on exploration engineering and the calculation data model on automatic generating geologic plane/section. Then, the calculation methods on control point’s spatial and projection coordinate are discussed based on data models, theoretical knowledge such as geology, mathematics and the existing mapping specification, which included the spatial/projection coordinate calculation methods on drilling inclination and sample/lithology control point, tunnel wall control point, stratum thinning out control point and some pertinent calculation methods to get tunnel sample control point’s projection coordinate in plane and tunnel soleplate control point’s projection coordinate in section. On the basis of analyzing stratum spatial distributing laws and stratum thinning out rules, the algorithm is set down on automatic making up stratum with multi-drilling by "subdividing the lithology area step by step" method, and it can help to automatically generate the stratum section.Taking the actually measured data in Pb-Zn-Ag mine, ZhiJiaDi, Shanxi Province, China as the example, the paper carried on the requirement analysis and the design about the system structure, function module, database etc. Based on coordinate algorithm, stratum section algorithm and geometry feature of geologic object/project, the automatic generation system of geologic plane/section in C/S pattern is established by using MapGIS67SDK as the GIS development platform, SQL Server as the database, which provides the function to automatically generate drilling, tunnel in geologic plane/section and stratum section with high efficiency and precision.
