Updating navigation electronic map data is the bottleneck restricting the development of navigation technology. With the rapid development of economy, the real geographic entity changed rapidly and traditional update mode of navigation electronic map data can not meet the demand of the development of current navigation. The incremental navigation electronic map updates which focus on the changes of the geographic features become the best way to solve this problem.In this paper, the key technologies used in the navigation electronic map incremental updating process are carried out to make theoretical explanations and practical. The establishment of an incremental update mode and select, the incremental packet data format and storage, navigation data integration and application are not only the main research contents of this paper, but also the focus of this article. Specifically, the main research works are about the following aspects:First, this paper summarizes the research progress at home and abroad for navigation electronic map update based on the analysis of the necessity of incremental update of navigation electronic map. It also points out the problems of navigation electronic map update mode and improve closed-loop incremental update service model which are aimed at the change information for navigation electronic map data discovery, analysis screening, access to the collection, processing and production, production releases.Second, for the delta packet used in the navigation electronic map incremental update process has been optimized. The organizational structure of the incremental package is basically the same as the format of the version of the navigation data, which stores to add, modify, delete elements of change. In this paper, taking the form of storage which put the incremental packet data into sub-data set, sub-map sheet, sub-layer to storing the data. And using the navigation electronic map topology maintenance system maintain incremental data topology.Third, for the incremental packet data and version data fusion is using a way that set aside a combination of map sheet space and pointer address. Proposing and using the pattern to replace all the sheets which have more change elements. To consider and analyze the key issues that arise in the data fusion process, and to explore the navigation electronic map incremental updates to the navigation terminal and network mapFourth, based on the theory, the author designed and implemented a navigation electronic map system and the format of the incremental data packet, and completed the test on navigation terminal platform. Based on Tianjin navigation data, an incremental packet data was generated and fused to the original navigation data. The navigation electronic map was updated successfully. It verified the feasibility of the present theory.
