Abstract

In this thesis, a review focused on the application of cellulose derivative and ionic liquid in gas chromatography, two capillary gas chromatographic columns were prepared through static coating method, namely CTPC/[OcMIM]BF4and CTPC/[C16H18N5O7]Br/[OcMIM]BF4. On these stationary phases, the separations of some nonpolar and polar compounds, fatty alcohols, nitrobenzenes and aromatic amines were carried out, the retention mechanism between probe molecules and stationary phases were analysised through thermodynamic parameters and linear solvation energy relationship, the correlation between the molecular struture of probe molecules and their retention values were studied through the establishing of Quantitative struture-Retention relationship model. The experimental results showed that the mixture capillary gas chromatographic columns had high column efficiency, good film-forming ability and well separation efficiency both for polar and nonpolar compounds. In addition, the separation efficiencies of aromatic amines on the CTPC/[OcMIM]BF4and CTPC/[C16H18N5O7]Br/[OcMIM]BF4columns are superior to that on the commercial SE-54column. For each of probe molecule, the interaction forces between probe molecule and stationary phase were invariable within the temperature range studied due to an excellent linear relationship between Ink and1/T. The chromatographic retention of all probe molecules on these stationary phases was enthalpy-driven processes. The main interaction forces of stationary phase with probe molecules were hydrogen bonding interaction, dispersive interaction and dipole-dipole interaction. And, the contribution of each interaction is in the order of hydrogen bonding interaction> dispersive interaction> dipole-dipole interaction. Furthermore, the Quantitative struture-Retention relationship model can be used to predict the retention values of the unknown compounds due to its excellent linear relationship and stability. And the chromatographic retention process were mainly related to the dispersive force, induction force, hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interaction.
