Abstract

This thesis briefly describes the research status about conductive polymer materials, polyaniline and its polymer matrix composites. It reviews the application of in-situ adsorptionpolymerization in the preparation of polyaniline composites and the present situation of wasteHTPB (hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene) propellant disposal and recycling. From theperspective of waste utilization, firstly the basic physical properties of the waste HTPB binderwere studied. The experimental results indicate that the volume resistivity of the abandonedHTPB binder has a order of1010~1011Ωm, and its’ thermal conductivity is about0.5~0.6W m-1·K-1. Thus basis and ideas for comprehensive utilization of the waste HTPB binder wereprovided. Then, guiding the direction of research on the waste HTPB binder to electricalfunctionalization was explored. After the waste HTPB binder was preliminary processed withchemical or physical methods, polyaniline/discarded HTPB binder conductive compositeswere made with in-situ adsorption polymerization. A new way was provided for the recyclingof discarded HTPB binder.Concerning polyaniline/discarded HTPB binder conductive composites made with in-situadsorption polymerization, the influences of aniline monomer amount, doped protonic acidconcentration, oxidant concentration, reaction time and reaction temperature on the electricalconductivity of composite products were investigated. The structure of the conductivecomposites was characterized with IR. The results show that the optimal reaction conditionsare that the monomer content of aniline is20%, the concentration of doped protonic acid(p-toluenesulfonic acid) is0.12mol/L, the oxidant concentration is0.15mol/L, the reactiontime is2h, and the reaction temperature is5℃. Under this condition, with an aqueouspolyurethane as adhesive to make polyaniline/waste HTPB binder conductive composites, thevolume resistivity decreases from original1011Ωm down to103Ωm. In order to improve the surface properties of the waste HTPB binder, the impact ofchemical modification on the electrical conductivity of the composite material was probed. This research explored the epoxidizing modified conditions on discarded HTPB binder withperoxyformic acid by aqueous suspension method. The results show that, the suitableconditions of epoxidation using hydrogen peroxide and formic acid to modify discardedHTPB binder are that the mass ratio of discarded HTPB binder to formic acid is43:1, themolar ratio of formic acid to hydrogen peroxide is0.6:1, the reaction temperature is40℃, andthe reaction time is4h. Under these conditions, the epoxidized product with epoxy valuearound34.9%can be prepared. Its structure was characterized by the infrared spectroscopy. The mechanical properties, the thermal stability and the resistance to acid and alkali ofpolyaniline/discarded HTPB binder conductive composites were studied. The results showthat the thermal stability of the composite was excellent, the resistance to acid was better thanthe resistance to alkali, the mechanical properties of the composites was investigated bycompression, and on the stress-strain curve, the yield did not appear, the elastic modulus wassmaller, having good elasticity. Thus, it was suitable for the conductive elastic material.
