Given the current gas sensors operating at high temperatures, low sensitivity, it issignificance of developing gas sensors with low cost, high sensitivity, good selectivity, stableperformance, small size, low power consumption, at room temperature. So that it can be usedin the coal mine gas monitoring and can be effective controlled. In this paper, since thecurrent method of detection gas was limited to the detection of electrical properties of gasadsorption on the material such as electrical conduction or current, this paper aims to developa electroluminescence analytical method based on the electroluminescent property of thematerial, and absorbance of methane gas will influence of the electroluminescence intensityof the materials. Based on the principle, the paper aims to develop a new method to detectmethane. In the paper, the electroluminescent properties of the material and its influencingfactors were investigated, the material types which can response to methane was also screened.Inspects electroluminescent material strength of the relationship between the concentration ofmethane gas and analysis parameters. The relationship between the electroluminescence andthe concentration of methane was also investigated.Specific content as follows:1) In the current mode, the electroluminescence of the pencil lead and the carbon pasteelectrode was investigated, and it was founded that nano-ZnO can enhance theelectroluminescence intensity of substrate electrode, but there was hot phenomenon.2) With aluminum electrodes are cathode, ITO electrodes modified with the nanomaterial (Titanium Oxide, Zinc Oxide) as anode. The electroluminescence of the device wasalso examed. The influence of the voltage on electroluminescence was also explored. Theelectroluminescent behavior of nanometer oxide is studied and the response ability ofmethane gas was also explored. It was shown that at room temperature, electroluminescenceintensity increases with increase of the voltage. Nanometer zinc oxide has corresponding tothe methane gas, no response for nitrogen.3) With aluminum electrodes are cathode, anode, ITO electrodes are carbon nanotubesmodified ITO electrode, carbon nanotube type ionization is constructed electroluminescent devices. Examines the voltage impact on electroluminescent, components on the response ofthe methane gas is studied. Results show that at room temperature, electroluminescentincreases with increase of the voltage. The device of the electroluminescent linear correlationwith the methane gas. Nitrogen does not interfere with the determination, oxygen to carbonnanotubes electroluminescent has quenching effects.
