Abstract

Organic functionalization of mesoporous materials gives it new properties, so it has important applications in catalysis, adsorption and biological sensors. Research studies show that, the organic silane that is introduced into the materials can’t only improve the hydrothermal stability of mesoporous materials, enhance the adsorption efficiency of organic molecules, but can also accelerate the reaction rate. However, a large number of organic silane which causes the mesoporous materials a high hydrophobic nature, leading to their poor dispersibility in water, and directly affects their catalytic activity and adsorption efficiency. To this end, we carry out the following two aspects of work.1. We modificated mesoporous materials by two kinds of organic silane, hydrophobic silane and hydrophilic one, and sythesized hydrophobic core/hydrophilic shell mesoporous materials. N2adsorption, XRD and TEM characterizations revealed that organic functional mesoporous materials remained ordered pore structures. FT-IR, NMR and XPS characterizations confirmed that the organic silane had been successfully introduced into the mesoporous materials. The studies of adsorption of4-nonylphenol show that our synthesis protocol with the particular combination of hydrophobic and hydrophilic organosilanes allows their fundamental properties such as dispersibility in water and distribution in a biphasic water/oil system to be facilely tuned by changing the core/shell dimensions or the loading of the hydrophobic and hydrophilic groups, the adsorption capacity of hydrophilic core/hydrophobic shell mesoporous materials is much higher than that of conventional mesoporous materials and single functional mesoporous materials.2. In order to reduce the amount of organic silane, we only modificated the shell of mesoporous materials by octyl silane, synthesized hydrophobic core/hydrophilic shell structure of the mesoporous materials. the materials loading of Pd have interface activity and can form stable pickering emulsion in water/toluene system. In the olefin hydrogenation reaction, its catalytic activity is much higher than traditional MCM-41-Pd. In addition, the catalyst could be recycled by centrifugal, and it could be reused5times without a significant decrease in activity.
