Abstract


According to this paper, single mineral flotation tests are given to make the comparison between flotation of potassium chloride with ODA and reverse flotation of it with DMP, to check the behavior of ODA and DMP during different flotation industry, to verify the effect of NH4Cl during the reverse flotation of potassium chloride. Related mechanism was checked by Infrared Spectroscopy and absorption test. Conclusions gained from this article are as followed:The single tests of potassium chloride and sodium chloride floated by ODA indicated that ODA could float both these minerals. Meanwhile, the capability ODA showed during the flotation of potassium chloride is obviously stronger than it showed during the sodium chloride’s flotation. In addition, floating capability of ODA to potassium chloride could be developed sharply when ODA reached its CMC.The single tests of potassium chloride and sodium chloride floated by DMP indicated that DMP has better separating effect during the flotation separation of these two minerals compared with ODA.NH4CI being used as regulator in reverse flotation of potassium chloride indicated the inhibition effect to potassium chloride and activation to sodium chloride of NH4Cl, both these effects are related to the dosages of NH4Cl used in the tests. The activation of NH4Cl to sodium chloride could not be shown until the dosage of NH4Cl reaches1500g/t.The absorption of NH4Cl and DMP on the surfaces of potassium chloride and sodium chloride was checked by infrared spectroscopy, the patterns illustrated that both these reagents are being absorbed on those two minerals’ surface by physical interaction. Combined with the data gained from the absorption tests, NH4Cl can be absorbed on the surface of potassium chloride more easily, whereas the absorption of DMP on the surface of sodium is better.
