It is the premise to control the sound source by the correct localization of sound source. Near-field acoustical holography (NAH) and beamforming are both advanced technologies for the identification of the noise source. In the NAH, the holographic sound pressure is acquired near the surface of the sound source, and the sound field of the source is then reconstructed by utilizing the spatial sound field relationship between the holographic surface and the source surface. NAH is suitable for low and medium frequency noise source identification, but not suitable for high frequency sound source and the far field source. In beamforming, the received signal of the sensors is processed by time delaying and weighted summing, and then a response peek value in space can be obtained, which depicts the location of noise source. Beamforming can be used for localizing the high frequency and far field noise source. However, it is inefficient for the low frequency sound source. So, NAH and beamforming both have their own advantageous. We should choose the suitable one according to different requirements.Based on NAH and beamforming techniques, a LabVIEW platform-based noise source identification system is developed. The system has such functions as data acquisition, data processing and visualization of acoustic field. It is easy to use, fast in computation and adapted to arbitrarily-shaped sources. The basic structure of the article is as follow:firstly, the principle of the system including the theory, the hardware and the software is introduced. And then, the reconstruction algorithms of the system are simulated by LabVIEW procedures and are verified by comparing with the result obtained by matlab procedures. Finally, an experiment of an electric motor is carried out to test the function and performance of the system.
