Abstract


For an optical system, the bigger field angle it has. the larger range it images, and the more information it captured. With people’s increasing demand, wide angle lens which have large field of view appeared. However, the wide angle lens have a big defect that the distortion in the system is evident. As the photo camera lens, distortion may cause some amazing artistic effect. Sometimes in order to guarantee the imaging quality of the lens, we loosen the requirement for distortion appropriately. But in some other field, we need the distortion of a wide angle lens to be in a very small range so we can get better uniformity between the image and object. The structure characteristics and aberration property of wide angle lens are studied. The design philosophy of inverse telephoto lens, which is an important structural style of wide angle lens, are analyzed. An initial structure is selected according to the design requirements. The system is optimized and the image quality is evaluated with ZEMAX. The final system is consist of11lenses and two even asphere surfaces are used in order to constraint distortion and improve the image quality simultaneously. The result shows that the relative distortion of this wide angle lens is less than0.5%across the field angle of91.58°.MTF of this system is bigger than0.3at42lp/mm. The design requirements are satisfied and the structure is reasonable.
