Abstract


Star tracker is an vectorial attitude measurement sensor referring to star position, which has high pointing accuracy and no error accumulation., It has been widely used in high-precision attitude determination system. The traditional star tracker generally has a large volume, high power consumption, large weight and other qualities which are insufficient to meet the needs of small satellite applications. In this thesis, micro star tracker design is studied to fulfill the requirement of micro-satellite especially Pico/Nano-satellites.The main objective of this thesis is to design a high performance micro star tracker using industrial devices and advanced processing algorithms. The main work includes:(1) The key technological path for micro star tracker design is demonstrated systematically. Through feasibility analysis, the front-end design was conducted and the core device is determined. Based on this, the total system hardware scheme is proposed using DSP+CPLD+APS image sensor architecture. Both key devices selection and interface design are accomplished as well.(2)The software process analysis and algorithm design were completed. The DSP software includes system initialization, register parameter configuration, image acquisition control, image processing and star pattern recognition algorithms. The CPLD contains image acquisition and alternative image storage. An improved four-connected domain method is proposed, which extracts star information through only one traverse. Finally, the storage format of guide star table is determined.(3) A portable functional star simulator is built, using PC displayer, a smooth platform with adjustable height, a slider and a three-axis precision displacement platform. A" packaged" whole sky domain star map simulation was realized based on matlab. The device has small size, light weight, low cost, and portable, that satisfies the algorithms test and functional test of star tracker.In summary, considering the constraints of micro satellite platform, this thesis designed a micro star tracker prototype based on DSP+CPLD+APS image sensor architecture. The corresponding star tracker software design is completed as well. Through the self-designed portable star simulator, the ground functional verification was completed. The preliminary analysis and ground test indicate that the deigned star tracker has small volume, low power consumption, light weight, large field of view and high measurement accuracy, which can meet the requirements of pico/nano satellite attitude determination.
