Abstract


Long before \The first 40 years of the history of American television , the small screen rarely homosexual narrative . However , the U.S. prime-time television shows in the 1990s , the topic of homosexuality is almost everywhere . Related episodes of many TV series will also be the introduction of topics to discuss the issue of homosexuality . Worse still, such popular television series like \Homosexual narrative to become a trend of the TV series of the 1990s evening . Behind this trend is the emergence of cultural significance ? Drama audience is how identity holding what kind of psychological watching it ? These problems is the core of this thesis . In this paper, through the words of the prime-time sitcom homosexual narrative analysis , displayed in a multicultural context , mainstream American society exhibit anxiety . Although these homosexual narrative progress , but their presence is still seeking a balance between freedom of pluralism and assimilation ideology . The psychological struggle of the heterosexual community through the unique perspective of the sitcom in homosexual narrative perspective . Thus, the main purpose of this paper is not to analyze the pros and cons of the Portrayal of homosexuality in the United States on television . Although this is discussed , but this paper aims to analyze the three most common homosexual narrative - homosexuality out of the closet , misplaced identity , and the acceptability of homosexuality image to reflect the anxiety of mainstream American society in the 1990s .
