Recently, ship-shaped FPSO is widely used in the field of offshore oil and gasexploitation, which has several disadvantages such as poor in seakeeping performance,prone to has different damages of single-point system and short life. Therefore, thedevelopment of non-ship-shaped FPSO is the hot issues of the current research in thefield of offshore oil and gas projects at home and abroad.In this paper, based on the advantages of the new concept FPSO, a conceptualdesign of a Multi-Cylindrical FDPSO is presented, which has a innovation in theshape. And detailed conceptual design on the size of the structure, constructionmaterials, loading consition and mooring system. On the oil storage, this paper putsforward a kind of "tank within tank storage mode", not only has the advantages of drystorage, but also overcome shortage of the large displacement of overall gravity centerduring the crude oil storage and unloading process. According to the South China Seaenvironmental conditions, the commercial software SESAM is used to rearch on thehydrodynamic performance of the Multi-Cylindrical FDPSO,which is discussed indetail numerical simulation research.Precise finite element model is established. FDPSO frequency domain analysis isperformed based on the three-dimensional potential flow theory to obtain the RAOsand the response spectrum of the floating body motion. Time domain analysis methodis applied to calculate the time domain response of floating body motion withcoupling effect between mooring system and the floating body considered. In addition,the fatigue life of mooring lines is discussed. The results show that FDPSO has goodmotion performance and mooring system designed meets the demands of drillingoperation conditions and self preservation condition in South China Sea.In summary, the design of Multi-Cylindrical FDPSO, hydrodynamicperformance, moring system and the fatigue life of moring lines are studied in thethesis. The new concept FDPSO is proposed, which will be very usefull to the studiesof new concept FDPSO in the future.
