Abstract


The Experimental Architecture was originally put forward by the art critic Wang Mingxian in the1999the World Congress of architecture, in Beijing. They have developed for more than ten years, and have great influence. In recent years, many people pay attention to experimental architecture, they have concerned more of these characteristics:critical, marginal. But in fact, the experimental architecture gives a new answer to how to rebind modern architecture and regional culture. The study found that experimental architecture are using various means to solve modern architecture how to embody traditional culture problem. This paper is a try to examine them with the regional perspective.The main body of the thesis is part of the structure:Background:the introduction part. It makes clear the significance and method of research, the object of study--the experimental architecture, characteristics and innovation of this paper.The second chapter is divided into two parts. First of all is about the theory of regional architecture as a background The second part introduces India architects regional exploration. India is a country with the same long history and a large population. India architects’ regional exploration are revelation. And last, look back into our country. China’s modern architecture since twentieth Century play plays a contrast role.The third chapter to the fifth chapter is respectively from the three aspects(space, form, material and tectonic) to analyze regional experimental building. Each chapter structure unified into two sections:the first section is a general background to study regional building from the three aspects above. It explains the logic of second sections behind. The second section is the analysis on the practical cases. It’ll list the method how to reflect the regional characteristics.
