Abstract

In china, the energy consumption of the residential building is very high, and wasteseriously. It is important to analyze the air conditioning load of the residential building inthe hot summer and cold winter region since the characteristic of the climate in thisregion increasing the energy consumption of the air conditioning system. Then it is alsoimportant to propose the reasonable improvement measure based on the analysis of theair conditioning load. This thesis selects the typical high-rise residential building in Wuhan for analyzing. The parameter of the building envelope should meet the relevant standards. Theimprovements of the building envelop and the external shading system is based on thechange of the air conditioning/heating load and the annual electricity consumption of thisbuilding.Solar radiation is one of the key influencing factors for the solar heat gain of thebuilding envelopes, especially for window systems. A comprehensive study of thesolar radiation intensity in various building facades in Wuhan has been carried out. Basedon this study, shading performance of the horizontal overhangs and vertical fins was alsoanalyzed. The optimal design and strategy of the shading systems is given based on thecomparison of the thermal performance of different shading strategies. In this thesis, eachcomponent of the air conditioning load (i.e., external wall, external window, internal wall, occupant, light, equipment, and fresh air etc.) is considered as the single heat source toanalyze the annual and the typical day cooling/heating load by using EnergyPlus.Meanwhile, the energy efficiency and the economy of various insulation measures of theexternal wall and roof, and various external windows is analyzed in this thesis. The research demonstrates: The annual solar radiation in east orientation of a building is largest, while also somewhat in south and west. The least annual solarradiation occurs in north orientation of a building. The horizontal overhangs can achievea better shading performance than the vertical fins. Meanwhile, the optimal shadingperformance of the horizontal overhangs will occur in south orientation, while alsosomewhat useful in east and west. The shading system may useless in north orientation. The optimal extent of a horizontal overhang is800mm in south orientation of a building. The recommend coefficient of the heat transfer of the external wall and roof is0.372W/(m~2·K) and0.358W/(m~2·K) respectively. The recommend external window is the highperformance Low-E coated glass.
