Electricity energy is the lifeblood of national economy, as well as the pillar tosupport social development, over thirty years since the reform and opening policy,China’s electricity industry have experienced great forward development. In the powerindustry, the threshold for investment is high, the investment amount is great and theinvestment is extremely professional and technical. In addition, the payback period ofinvestment is long and greatly influenced by the supply-demand relationship of powermarket. All of these lead to many uncertainties about the investment in power projectsand great investment risk. After the power system reform in the past few years, Majorpower companies also realize that only scientific investment decision and managementcan earn them continuous competitive advantage. Certain domestic theoreticalresearch is available for power projects investment demonstration, but it is not closelyconnected to the practical investment management of enterprises. A scientific andrigorous investment management system is yet to be established and perfected.This paper selects Mei Xiang Energy Company as the object of study, by studiedboth domestic and overseas literatures about investment risk argumentation theories,combining the Mei Xiang Energy investment company’s current situation ofinvestment management, then analyze the potential risks facing small andmedium-sized power projects from five aspects, including risks in resourceargumentation, power markets, technology, laws and finance. it also find out someexisting investment management problems of Mei Xiang Energy Investment Company,for example, the shareholders’ investment philosophy is of problem, the investmentmanagement has not formed a system, the rational post-project investment evaluationmechanism has not been established, no relevant responsibility system has been set up,nor has it relevant system of rewards and penalties, human resource support is notsufficient, etc. Combing with theories relating to investment argumentation, th isdissertation designs investment risks prevention system for Mei Xiang Energy anddiscusses from seven aspects including risk identification and prevention principles,investment strategy, investment and development procedure, project investment riskevaluation system, project due diligence, evaluation of project economic benefit,major work in project investment, etc. Finally, this paper puts forward how to carryout risk prevention system, predicts the possible resistance during the process of the plan, and it also provides relevant safeguard measures to guarantee the smoothimplementation of this plan.Finally, this thesis conclusion is that Investment management should be strategicand pay attention to macro control and treatment of details. A systematic and scientificinvestment management needs to organically integrate various investmentdemonstration methods in an organized and systematic manner.
