Abstract

Current detection technology is becoming more and more important with thedevelopment of the power industry. The accuracy of current detection plays a keyrole in the safe operation of the power system. The defects of current detection thatbased on the electromagnetic current transformers make it difficult to meet the needsof the power industry. It’s a trend to measure the current with optical fiber sensingtechnology, in recent years. In this paper, after study the principle of optical current sensor puts forward amethod to measure current with the combine of giant magnetostrictive material andfiber Bragg grating. First use resistance strain to test the relationship between giantmagnetostrictive material magnetostrictive coefficient and current. The giantmagnetostrictive of materiasensitivity and linearity are better with pressures are300-600Oe. Then established the model of optical fiber grating and temperature, according to the characteristics of the fiber grating. This design used spectrometer asdemodulation programs. Design and select the core of the sensing coil, giantmagnetostrictive material and fiber Bragg grating sensor system. Establish acomposition diagram of the current sensor of the fiber grating through the abovecomponents. and obtain the magnitude of the current by measure the fiber gratingcenter wavelength offset. Finally, compared the experimental and results and analysisthe reason of system error, with the principle of the optical fiber grating of thecurrent sensor and the results of the experiment. The optical fiber grating of the current sensor designed in this paper, aimed toachieve detect current non-contact. And improving the measuring precision by thetemperature offset algorithm.
