To solve a series of issues such as the urban congestion, deterioration of theliving environment which are brought about by the rapid development of the city,Guangdong Province become the first in the country to commence the construction ofgreenway within the Pearl River Delta. Guangzhou greenway which is on the basis ofregional greenway within the Pearl River Delta, mainly depends on the road network,water network, and green belt completed through the verdant creek remediationproject, series along the culture, geography, ecological landscape. According to thedefinition of greenway in the Pearl River Delta Greenway Network Planning Programand the actual construction situation, Guangzhou Greenway is composed by naturalfactors pergola system and the artificial systems which is constructed to meet thegreenway recreational function. Pergola system is mainly constituted by a certainwidth of the zonal plant community, water, soil, and it is the ecological base of thegreenway. The artificial system mainly consists of slow-way street system, thedevelopment node composed by greenway attractions, traffic node, service system(inn), identification systems, infrastructure and so on.According to the Pearl River Delta Greenway Network Planning Program issuedin early2010by Guangdong Province, there are six regional greenway in Pearl RiverDelta whose total length is1670km, Line1,2,3,4bordering cross Guangzhouwhose main line is340km. After a reasonable planning, the preparation of the city’sgreenway planning, Guangzhou City developed an implementation plan, planning toconstruct the6greenway of480km--Liuxihe greenway, Zengjiang greenway,FuRongzhang greenway, TianLuhu greenway, Lotus Hill greenway, coastal greenways,correctly handling the three greenway level relationship of regional greenway, urbangreenways and community greenways, thus forming a greenway system inGuangzhou City. Greenway of Guangzhou City, has been basically completed and putinto use. At the end of2012, the city completed total2174KM of Greenway, rankingfirst in the province. Guangzhou Greenway covers10th District, two county-level cities of the city, series from320main attractions,151inn and service outlets, coversan area of3600km2, and serves a population of over8million.Guangzhou Greenway owns leisure and recreation, transportation, environmentand other functions. In this paper, systematicly collect information on all aspects ofGuangzhou City greenway, then objectively evaluate the benefits of Guangzhougreenway. Take the method of combining quantitative and qualitative to assess thesocial, economic and ecological benefits of Guangzhou City greenways, then form ascientific and effective evaluation findings to cause the government departments andthe public for a correct understanding of the greenway. In addition, through field visitsand surveys to understand the problems of the Green Road of Guangzhou City, andpoint out that the impact factors, finally, propose rational recommendations tomaximize the features and benefits of the Greenway Project, and to provide scientificbasis for making decisions and for reference recommended the construction andimprovement of Guangzhou City.
