Abstract


Degradable plastics have become the focus in the current plastic industry because of the worldwide environment and resources problems resulted from petroleum-derived plastics. Among biodegradable plastic materials poly butylene succinate (PBS) for its excellent performance has become the hottest rearch point, and a potential wide application has been recognized.In this paper, to meet the PBS in the field of packaging and other applications, a series of PBS composites materials was prepared for PBS’Shortcomings. The PBS/Nano-SiO2 composites have been prepared by modifying Nano-SiO2 with KH570, where the effects of the dosage of both coupling agent and Nano-SiO2 have been investigated. Besides the melt blending method was adopted to prepare PBS/pure starch and PBS/ TPS biocomposites. To improve the interfacial adhesion small amount of EVA-g-MAH was used to modified the the PBS/starch biocomposites after the comparison of the two biocomposites. The optimized formulation of PBS/Starch composites with eximious degradation property and mechanical performance have been obtained through exploration of the correlations between interfacial structure and performances. In the end the PBS/lignocelluloses and PBS/EC biocomposites was prepared via melt blending. Its structure and performance have been characterized, and the effects of the celluloses content on the properties of the biocomposites.The experimental results showed that: the thermal instability as well as the tensile strength of the PBS/naro-SiO2 composites has been greatly improved by modifying Nano-SiO2 with KH570. In PBS/nano-SiO2 composites nano-SiO2 had an enhancement in the degradability of PBS. While the degradability and tensile strength of PBS/TPS was superior to that of PBS/pure Starch composites, and 1wt% addition of EVA-g-MAH could increase the mechanical strength greatly. The degradability of the PBS/starch biocomposites ascended with the content of the starch quickly. The addition of EC in PBS bumped up the thermal instability together with the mechanical performance of the composites compared with PBS/lignocelluloses composites. Furthermore the degradability of PBS/celluloses biocomposites accelerates with the concentration of the celluloses.
