Abstract

Objective:to evaluate the changes of peripheral nerve conduction velocity (NCV) and analyze the relationship between the NCV, blood stasis and clinical examination in diabetic peripheral neuropathy patients.Methods:366diabetic patients with peripheral neuropathy from Jiangsu Province Hospital of TCM., whose NCV and blood stasis were recorded, BMI, age, TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, serum uric acid, HbA1c were determined. T-text, stepwise regression were used for statistical analysis.Result:1.4194nerves were measured. The abnormal rate of median nerve conduction velocity was51.5%(1431nerves) while the rate of ulnar nerve conduction velocity was51.6%(1427nerves). The abnormal rate of sural sensory nerve conduction velocity was53.6%(644nerves) as well as the rate of peroneal nerve conduction velocity was65.5%(682nerves).2.The lower extremity nerve got higher abnormal rate on motor nerve conduction velocity than higher extremity nerve while sensory nerve conduction velocity got higher rate.3.No correlation was found between course of disease and NCV as well as TG.4.Significant negative correlation of FBG and TC were found to SCV(the coefficient of regression was,-0.253,-0.338). The impact descending is TC> FBG.5.Significant negative correlation of FBG, TC and HbA1c were found to motor conduction velocity(MCV)(the coefficient of regression was,-0.182,-0.259,-0.195)while positive correlation of high-density lipoprotein(HDL-C)(the coefficient of regression was,1.494) were found. The impact descending is HDL-C> TC> HbAic> FBG.6.Significant negative correlation of FBG and TC were found to proximal nerve conduction velocity(the coefficient of regression was,-0.276,-0.42) while positive correlation of HDL-C were found(the coefficient of regression was:1.394). The impact descending is HDL-C> TC> FBG.7.Significant negative correlation of HbAic, FBG, the age and BMI were found to distal nerve conduction velocity(the coefficient of regression was:-0.150,-0.131,-0.034,-0.030). The impact descending is HbAic> FBG> age> BMI.8.The syndrome of blood stasis got the ratio of65.02%in this study, showed that this is the main single symptom in DPN. Correlation of FBG, the course of disease and the age was found to the syndrome of blood stasis. However, the FBG in blood stasis and non-blood stasis group did not have statistically significant (P>0.05) as well as the course of disease and the age has statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion:Abnorality of lipid metabolism and glucose metabolism are risk factors of DPN. The syndrome of blood stasis is the main single symptom in DPN, which had correlation with Course of disease, FBG,it is also found that the patients with syndrome of blood stasis got older and longer course of disease.
