Objective: To Study the advantages and disadvantages of the SST andDST in Transanal Pull-through Rectal resection Operations for UltraLow Rectal Cancer.Methods:A retrospective study of113cases Transanal Pull-throughRectal resection Operations for Ultra Low Rectal Cancer used SSTand DST in Gastrointestinal Surgery of our hospital from July2008to July2011(1138patients with rectal cancer are treated in our department Duringthis period),64cases of them used the double stapling technique(DST) inanal sphincter preservation surgery, while49cases of them used the singlestapling technique (SST) in anal sphincter preservation surgery. Analyzedand Compared the data of the two group such as operative time,postoperative complications such as anastomotic leakage, anastomoticbleeding, the Pelvic floor recurrence rate, length of stay and hospitalizationcosts, compared and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of the twostapling technique.Results:The difference of average operative time and postoperativehospitalization time was not statistically significant (the operative time t= 0.172, p=0.864; average hospitalization time Z=-0.562, p=0.547).Postoperative complications: difference of anastomotic leakage was notstatistically significant (χ~2=6.592, p=0.142); Other complicationsdifference was not statistically significant (χ~2=0.037, p=0.848). Localrecurrence: by follow-up of1-4years, both of the pelvic floor localrecurrence difference was not statistically significant (χ~2=1.839, p=0.175).The difference of average hospital cost was statistically significant (Z=-5.782, p=0.031).Conclusion:The Transanal Pull-through Rectal resection operationshas become a commonly used technique for ultra-low rectal cancer.Compared with the DST,The SST used in Transanal Pull-through Rectalresection Operations is More secure and simple, lower cost, Resectionmore completely and lower recurrence rate.It is worthy of clinicalapplication.
