Abstract


People’s education, in its essence, is a kind of life education. Life education as a education concept has led and will continue to lead the education reform of our country. However, life education as a education practice in China is still in its infancy. Discipline penetration is one of the implementation of life education. Chinese curriculum because of its humanistic feature plays an important role in the practice of life education. As a static text, Chinese textbooks are full of the message of life. Interpretation of the elements of life education in Chinese textbook is in the journey of life substantially. Chinese textbook is not value-free, but is a reflection of ideology, cultural tradition, social reality under a certain space-time. The eight sets of primary school Chinese textbooks published by People’s education publishing house are across more than50years of history which witness the social change and the transformation of the value idea. It is an indisputable fact that Chinese textbooks contain life education resources. Then what kinds of life education resources do the eight sets of primary school Chinese textbooks contain? How do these life education elements change? What elements of life education is a common pursuit of the eight sets of primary school Chinese textbooks? What are the deep reasons behind the specific evolution and common pursuit?The understanding of the connotation of life education from domestic and foreign scholars is quite different. Reviewing previous research about analyzing elements of life education and checking the specific contents of primary school Chinese textbooks, we can find that there are six kinds of life education elements in Primary school Chinese textbooks which is life growth, survival ability, interpersonal relations, ecological ethics, life and death education and life value. The eight sets of primary school Chinese textbooks have different degree of attention on the six kinds of life education elements.In general, the degrees of focus on the life education elements from the eight sets of primary school Chinese textbooks rise gradually. The most important elements are survival ability, interpersonal relations, life and death education. Specifically, the eight sets of primary school Chinese textbooks advocate dedication professionalism, emphasize heroism death attitude, pursue the life value of collectivism. What’s more, the expositions of a good life accord with The essence of Chinese traditional culture. Viewing from the evolutions, we can conclude that primary school Chinese textbooks put more emphasis on life principle and life of leisure, independent survival and self concerns, the relationships with companion and family, environmental protection, appreciation of life.
