Free normal students’ teacher professional identity is a process that free normalstudents’ professional identity of teacher occupation turns from the external identityto the intrinsic identity up to the implementation of their behavioral identity.This study selected free normal students of Xinjiang Normal University as theresearch object，aiming to investigate the current situation of Xinjiang free normalstudents’ teacher professional identity and analyze its influencing factors meanwhilegiving some suggestions and countermeasures so as to promote the development offree normal students’ teacher professional identity.This paper is divided into three sections.Part I: Introduction. The question raising and concerned research achievementsat home and abroad were stated, related concepts were defined. In addition, thepurpose, significance and design of this research were also presented in this part.Part II: Analysis on the current situation of free normal students’ teacherprofessional identity. Firstly, the questionnaires were used to investigate the currentsituation of Xinjiang free normal students’ teacher professional identity and thefollowing conclusions were drawn from the analysis of the data：the overall level offree normal students’ teacher professional identity is slightly higher than that ofnon-free normal students’ teacher professional identity; the level of free normalstudents’ teacher professional identity has no significant difference in gender,whether or not only child, domicile place and monthly household income; there is asignificant difference between oriented students and non-oriented students,nationalities, grades as well as between majors; free normal students’ teacherprofessional identity and its influencing factors have different degrees of relevancewith general self-efficacy and professional value; general self-efficacy is an effectivepredictor of promoting intrinsic value identity.Secondly, based on the analysis of demographic variables, correlation andregression, interviews, TF-IDF (term frequency-inverse document frequency)techniques and content analysis were used to further analyze the influencing factorsof free normal students’ teacher professional identity, it is concluded that:(1) Thereis a concern of parents and family care for free normal students.(2) Free normalstudents are longing for a development in big city; they are fear of hard environmentin rural areas.(3) The main reason for free normal students to apply normaluniversity are not favoring or loving teacher occupation.(4) The ethnic minorities offree normal students feel the lack of language ability.(5) Free normal students havehigher expectations on their remuneration.(6) Free normal students’ teachingintentions are not clear and they lack ideal of teacher occupation.Part Ⅲ： Three aspects suggestions were given in order to promote thedevelopment of free normal students’ teacher professional identity. In the aspect ofgovernment, free normal students’ employment should be taken into account andtreated flexibly, their wages also should be gradually improved; in the aspect ofnormal universities, the cultivation of free normal students’ good values and positiveideal of teachers occupation should be emphasized, the training of their teachingability should be strengthened by paying attention to the guiding links of theirteaching practice; in the aspect of free normal students, they should be active in usingthe self-reflection to clear their occupation planning and correct their professionalideal as teachers.
