Abstract


Social mobility means changes or exchanges are in status、career or place of members ofsociety in social structure.Among the civilized、open society,with the economy, the culture, thetechnical rapidly expand, occupation mobility becomes a sign of social mobility. Vocationaleducation which faces to everyone and the society, improves people’s occupational status, byimproving vocational skill and occupation attitude of people, and then achieves upward mobilityfor members of society.So vocational education is important for people’s position obtaining andsocial status changing, especially for social mobility of the lower social stratum.For a decade or so, our government has paid great attention on vocational education, givinggreat support in policy and system. Vocational education has had rapid development. How doesvocational education influence social mobility? In what aspect is the influence shown? How dowe make vocational education promote social mobility to exert the social functions of vocationaleducation. This paper takes empirical research methods to observe and analyze the relatedsituations.The thesis applied methods of interview、 questionnaire survey and literature, takingemployees in Tianjin as the investigation object,surveyed and analyzed the conditions of theobtaining occupation and the career change.At the same time, the author conducted in-depthinterviews with30different types of employees.With the questionnaires and the data processingof them, we know various factors of vocational education which influenced social mobility,andby applying related theory of educational sociology, analyze these various factors.The authordiscussed how vocational education influenced social mobility,and the problems which stillremain for the social mobility.On this base, the author proposed several ideals and suggestionwhich can be used to drive social mobility by vocational education.This thesis comprises five chapters:The first chapter is a prolegomenon, introducing the topics of this study cause,the purposesand significance of research,the summary of reference books,he definition of the concepts、thehypothesis、the basic mind and method、the main contents、emphases、difficulty and innovation、theoretical base of the study。The Second chapter tells the design and implement of this paper,and the statistical analysis techniques. As well as this paper carried out a descriptive statisticalanalysis on samples. The Chapter3and4are the main parts of the paper, analyzing survey data,respectively discussing the effects of vocational education on getting the first job、on the positionchange. Chapter Five is the conclusion of the thesis.On the basis of statistical analysis,Itsummarized the research results,and proposed several ideals and suggestion which can be used to drivie social mobility by vocational education.Finally the author proposed innovations andshortcomings.The conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)Vocational education promoted individual upward social mobility.(2)Monthly income is not only related to education levels, but nothing to do witheducational type.(3)Vocational education has the latent function to avoid individual’s downward mobility.(4)Vocational education promoted individual upward social mobility,which is the resultof multiplex factors.
