Abstract

With the advent of the aging problem, it attracted the world’sattention to let the old enjoy a healthy and happy life. The Chinese old populationhas large scale, increases fast because of the largest population in the world, whichwe have never seen before. After retired, the old have a long leisure time, but theirchildren can not accompany with them because of work or other reasons, so moreand more old people live in the empty nest. It’s an urgent problem in the progress ofChinese social aging that how the old relax in their rich time. This article studies theleisure life of the old and samples the old urban Chengdunese. We hope the study isa good reference for the healthy life of the old, and help them enjoy their rest time toimprove the aging problem. Leisure is a kind of life style and attitude. The old havebetter economic condition and more time to relax, have enough condition to relaxproactively, enrich their rest lives constantly, improve the quality of their lives, andhave a happy sunset. We communicate with the old in the People’s Park, the XinhuaPark, the new Culture Palace, the Xinhong Community, and UESTC FamilyCommunity in Chengdu urban through peer to peer interviews and questionnaires.Thanks some friends help research the old aged60and over in Chengdu urban fortheir sports leisure life by180questionnaires. This article researches the currentleisure life, including motivation, time, type, factors, and quality on top of thetranditional leisure analysis of the old in Chengdu urban. Per the stats and analysis ofquestionnaires, we conclude the following: Most of the old choose abilityaccomplishment and relax their bodies and spirites as their motivation. The oldspend more time to relax in Spring and Autumn than the time to relex in Summer orWinner because of the weather. The old attend the leisure activities with moreintelligence benefit, body building, and communication. The quality of leisure livesof the old of Chengdu urban is not high totally, which represents less types of leisureactivities, and the subjective and objective factors which affects the leisure activitiesof the old are very complicated. On top of above researches and analysis, this articleresearches the solutions and suggested doable approaches in the4dimensions:person, family, community, and socialty. We recommend healthy leisure life stylestrongly, abadon negative or bad leisure ways so that the quality of leisure life andthe healthy level of bodies and spirites get improved, and the old are able to enjoy healthy and comfortable subset life.
