Abstract


Recently, Video-on-Demand (VoD) application has become more and more popular inthe Internet, which imposes higher requirement of system quality of service. It is a commonproblem to evaluate the performance of a system for system maintenance and optimization.In order to evaluate the performance of a VoD system and provide support for optimizingperformance, log system is indispensable. Input of log system comes from the runningsystem, Compared with other solutions, it’s more accurately and objectively.This thesis proposes a design for log analyze subsystem. The research work is asfollows.(1) Designed the format of log record, which is generated by source server andtracker server from Peer to Peer (P2P) VoD system. The detailed information of systemevents is record in the log, which provides data for log analyze.(2) Design and develop a loganalyze subsystem of P2P-VoD system, which can collect and store the logs generated bysystem peers.(3)In this thesis, we design and write the software, which can analyzeperformance metrics of P2P-VoD system after analyzing log, such as startup latency andcontinuity index and fluency index, and show the log analyze results with graphic.The test shows that, it’s practical and effectively to evaluate P2P-VoD system by ourlog analyze system, that propose a means for performance evaluation and optimization ofperformance in P2P-VoD system.
