In the current international environment, the enterprise informatization has nothing new. More and more domestic large and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises are aware of that it is essential to do a good job of enterprise informatization in order to make an expansion of the enterprises in the market economy situation. The Product Data Management (PDM) has long been the industry fully known and recognized which is an important part of Enterprise informatization. The implementation of PDM is the priority among priorities of enterprise informatization construction. The sooner and more in-depth implementation of PDM, the enterprise will get more and better benefits from this step.Through a lot of theoretical research on PDM, this paper had finished to build PDM working system on the HXN3locomotive multinational collaborative design which is the cooperation projects between Dalian Locomotive and rolling stock Co. Ltd (CNR Dalian)and American EMD Company. This system makes the realization of products design by three-dimensional software in the PDM system and2D drawings electronic management. By the PDM system, it is achieved the electronic product design and the design change approval workflow for CNR Dalian, realized the product data, R&D process rights management and version management. The same time, upgraded and optimized the system software and server, storage network hardware during PDM system operation and maintenance.This paper focuses on the realization of collaborative design platform and related technology of PDM system based on the distributed as the main work content. The realization of PDM system for Dalian locomotive on new product development capabilities and the ability of information management has greatly improved, and can be the platform for recording and management of CNR Dalian new product life cycle, version information, technical documentation, to shorten new product development cycle, reduce product cost, improve product quality, finally improve the core competitiveness in the industry of CNR Dalian.
