In an information-based society nowadays, with popularity of Internettechnology, network technology has been extensively applied in various aspects of thewhole society. As a fundamental facility of school education and informationcommunication, campus network plays an irreplaceable role. It has become animportant supporter for teaching and management in colleges and universities. Withinternet as a carrier, campus network creates fundamental conditions for rationalutilization of various resources. How to make limited network resources fully andoptimally utilized has become a realistic problem for every college or university. Lotsof colleges and universities have constructed or are building or upgrading their owncampus network to realize digitized campus. Based on campus network, digitizedcampus makes full use of digitized information to serve for teaching, scientificresearch, management, technical services, life services, etc. It’s urgent and essentialto well manage and utilize campus network. Management and control of campusnetwork flow are the foundation of normal and efficient operation of the wholecampus network. Only with adequate and reasonable programming of all campusnetwork flow and corresponding flow control strategy can digitized campus play agreatest role in teaching, management and services in colleges and universities. This paper discusses how to normalize internet use, rationally distributebandwidth and implement flow control strategies so as to guarantee the utilization ofvarious applications in digitized campus network in colleges or universities withmulti-campus. It firstly analyzes flow of various applications in digitized campusnetwork and then concentrates on theory, approaches and procedures of flow controland various specific kinds of control technologies of flow management equipment.Based on the second phase of campus network construction of Hunan VocationalCollege of Science&Technology, the third chapter discusses the status quo andexisting problems in multi-campus network. Then it devises and actualizes dispersedcampus network management in multi-campus, which solves the bottle-neck problemof interconnection and interworking of network between two campuses so as to realizeunified output and management of campus network, which lays a foundation forfurther management and control of campus network flow. This provides the wholecampus network with advancement, stability and security and completely satisfies thedevelopment needs of various applications in digitized campus even in the comingyears. The last part of this paper designs and implements an application-orientedcampus network flow management and control strategy specific to its own characteristics of campus network in Hunan Vocational College of Science&Technology. The first strategy is to enhance education towards users of campusnetwork and normalize their application behaviors. The second one is to exert asimple flow control at the front-end of campus network to alleviate the pressure ofmain flow control equipment. The most critical point lies in that, with theapplication-oriented control strategy deployed in flow control equipment, distributionand management of network application resources according to the needs in campusnetwork are actualized and unexpected problems in network are most fundamentallycontrolled. Moreover, it draws up different flow assurance and restriction policiesaccording to different applications in various channels based on repeated dataresearches and comparison tests. It also optimizes the configuration for flow structureof network in the whole college with flow control equipment to restrict irrelevantapplications, ensure core businesses and optimize bandwidth utilization ratio, whichachieves desired objectives and remarkable effects in practical application.
