Abstract


As a key role of ITS (Intelligent Transportation System), the traffic flowdetection systems are the main source of specific data for ITS and thus act as thefundamental part of ITS. Owing to the complicated detection environment, existingtechnologies are supposed to improve their detection accuracy and the datatransmission efficiency. The major tasks in this thesis are as follows.This thesis depicts the basic definition and significance of ITS as well as ro adtraffic flow detection systems, giving the analysis of the characteristics of raffic flowand research background of this literature.This thesis analyzes and designs the architecture of the traffic flow detectionsystem, placing an emphasis on the two subsystems, i.e., the traffic flow datacollection and detection subsystem, parameters remote debugging subsystem.Afterwards, this thesis provides the structure of the hardware and software platformfor this system.Moverover, this thesis details the development of the the traffic flow datacollection and detection subsystem, including the three key modules implementing thefunction of this subsystem, i.e., control and data collecting module, analysis and judgemodule, and RS485communication module. Based on this system, much informationcan be obtained, including the vechicle type, speed, time period distance, and distance,so as to know the traffic flow state. The parameters remote debugging subsystem isdetailed as well. The overall function and work mode are depicted firstly and a varietyof communication formats for debugging commands are defined here, final ly thesystem interface is offered. This subsystem can be used to receive and display the datapackets from the detection boards, providing the parameters editing interfaces, so asto provide the remote analysis and adjust function for the users.Also, this detection system has been tested a lot of times, to adjust the keyparameters of detection algorithm and verify the accuracy on speed computing,vechicle type judging and traffic flow statistic.
