During the period of building the comprehensive well-off society, Anhui Province has gradually reach a new period to improve the quality of human life for the main goal. Anhui’s economic transformation has brought continuous economic growth, and people start to pay more attention to self-development, urban harmonious development and urban economic development quality. With the guidance of the scientific concept of development, this paper analyzes the topic of urban economic development quality, trying to discuss city economic development quality, spatial and temporal evolution.Reviewing the domestic and international research, the concept of quality of economic development has been defined and the index system has been built, which are based on a combination of economic growth and economicdevelopment theory. By the use of2000-2011index data from various cities in Anhui Province, the paper use Entropy method to evaluate the quality of cities in Anhui Province and sort them accordingly. At last, we combine the cities with the quality of economic development by type and analysis the quality of urban economic development in Anhui Province with timing variations and temporal variation characteristics from2000to2011.(1)According to comprehensive evaluation value of economic growth, Hefei Economic development quality performance as "thriving" situation. The cities ranked in the front are mainly along the Huaihe River region,such as Tongling, Wuhu, Maanshan, Bengbu and Huainan. Cities ranked at the back are mainly concentrated in the northern and middle area of Anhui, such as Suzhou, Bozhou, Fuyang, Huaibei, Chizhou and Lu’an.(2)According to different dimensions of the comprehensive evaluation value, the economic growth dimension, economic effective dimension, economic structure and economic Share dimensions shows a pattern of hing in the middle,low in the north and middle in the south. The economic sustainable dimension shows a pattern of high in the north, middle in the south and low in the middle.(3)According to the spatial and temporal variation of economic development, the quality of urban economic development in Anhui Province ranked by area can displayed as middle, southern and northern. Central cities are ranked quite in front, Northern cities are ranked by comparison and southern cities are ranked in the middle place.
