Natural rubber is an important strategic resource, and ASEAN is the major producer ofnatural rubber, while China is the most important consumer. In recent years, the two sidesare increasing the cooperation of natural rubber in depth. Based on the environment, thearticle makes analysis of the potential of cooperation between China and ASEAN, whichincludes the necessity, motivation, opportunities, foundation and prospect. In this article, itmakes analysis of huge data by the G-L index, RCA index and TC index. What’s more, itmakes a study on the potential opportunities about cooperation of natural rubber industrybetween China and ASEAN by PEST.According to the research above, it is found that there is a huge potential for cooperationin the field of natural rubber industry, generally speaking: firstly, the scale of the trade aboutnatural rubber between China and ASEAN is increasing rapidly; secondly, thecomplementarity between China and ASEAN is very strong, it’s obvious that there arenecessities and motives for deeper cooperation; thirdly, there exists huge opportunities forfurther tapping the potential of natural rubber industry cooperation between China andASEAN in terms of politics, economy, culture and technology; at last, since the early2000s,China-ASEAN have already cooperated in the field of natural rubber industry, although thetwo sides have achieved some initial results, the cooperation mode is junior which has thepotential to upgrade.In order to deepen the cooperation in the fields of natural rubber industry between Chinaand ASEAN, the article proposes the following advices of six aspects: firstly, we have topromote China-ASEAN cooperation in multilateral aspects especially in politics andeconomy; secondly, we should actively cooperate with International Natural RubberOrganizations; thirdly, the two sides should enhance personnel training in the field of naturalrubber industry; fourthly, we should cooperate in the field of financial information withASEAN; fifthly, government should provide a package of services for our overseas rubberenterprises; at last, we should cooperate with ASEAN in the differentiation of natural rubberindustry.
