Number of purposes to explore statins for acute ischemic stroke (acute Ischemic Stroke, AIS) in the peripheral blood of patients with hematopoietic stem cells (hematopoietic stem cell, HSC) of whether an impact , study the relationship between statin drugs and hematopoietic stem cells with AIS prognosis of . Methods 62 cases of AIS patients , statin group, 33 patients in the control group of 29 patients were randomly divided into . Both groups received a stroke conventional treatment group of statins atorvastatin 20mg per night plus service . 1 , 9 or 10 days after the admission of the patients : venous blood 5 ml of ( ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid EDTA -K2 anticoagulant) , CD34 cells was detected by flow cytometry (FCM) ; extracted venous 5ml ( nonanticoagulant ) measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) , the serum levels of tumor necrosis factor -α (TNF-α) and vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF ) , the U.S. National Institutes of Health nerve function deficit score (NIHSS) score of the patient . Results: After 10 days of treatment : ① statin group of peripheral blood CD34 cell count increased by 111.58 ± 46.74 × 106 / L to 267.36 ± 70.09 × 106 / L , the difference was statistically significant ( P lt; 0.001 ) ; peripheral blood of patients of the control group CD34 cell count increased by 119.38 ± 53.08 × 106 / L to 229.93 ± 67.22 × 106 / L, the difference was statistically significant ( P lt; 0.001 ) ; treatment in both groups 10 days after CD34 cell count difference was statistically significant ( P = 0.037). ② statin group peripheral VEGF increased by 149.04 ± 35.42pg/ml 398.24 ± 91.64pg/ml, a statistically significant difference ( P lt; 0.001 ) ; peripheral blood VEGF control group increased by 153.26 ± 30.19pg/ml to 220.86 ± 72.74pg/ml, the difference was statistically significant (P lt; 0.001); 10 days of VEGF difference in the two groups after treatment with statistical significance ( P lt ; 0.001) . ③ statin group NIHSS decreased from 10.15 ± 2.37 to 8.79 ± 2.46 points, the difference was statistically significant ( P lt; 0.05 ) ; control group NIHSS decreased from 10.34 ± 3.83 to 8.59 ± 2.73 points , the difference was also statistically significant (P lt; 0.05); 10 days NIHSS after treatment, there was no difference ( P = 0.761 ) . ④ using linear regression of CD34 cell count increased VEGF rise was a positive correlation (r = 0.369, P = 0.003), NIHSS decline has nothing to do with the increase in the number of CD34 cells ( r = 0.138 , P = 0.286 ) . Conclusion: statins can increase the number of peripheral blood CD34 cells in patients with acute ischemic stroke , increased serum VEGF secretion in patients with acute ischemic stroke , VEGF and stem cells promote each other .
