Under the background of the development of the western region, all sorts ofcapital resources and welfare policy flow to the western region, makes the westernregion’s economic developing. And tourism as a low resource consumption, big drivingfactor, more employment opportunities, good comprehensive benefits industry, attractmany governments, so planning its positioning for the economic development of pillarindustries. Regions due to differences in their various conditions, however, there existlarge differences in the development of tourism, the imbalance of development, on theone hand, we regard it as reasonable, because only there are differences, will formdistinctive local features, on the other hand, if the difference is too big, can lead tolarger areas the gap between rich and poor, so want to see it is not reasonable sidealready, also want to see it reasonable side, only such ability is conducive to thecoordinated development of tourism industry in the western region.At first, this paper points out that the western region is vast, and rich in tourismresources. Since2006the western regions by the rapid development of tourismindustry, tourism revenue increased year by year, travel agents, for example, suggeststhat tourism industry creates a larger business tax, gyeonggi province development hasmade a large contribution to society. Then, this paper combined with single index andmultiple indices, the method of selecting the tourism revenue, domestic tourismincome, inbound tourists, tourist foreign exchange income and domestic tourists, travelagencies, tourism employment number, quantity, number of star-rated hotels, scenicspots, highway mileage dozens of indicators, using SPSS17.0software and excell, thetourism development of cities in the western areas of difference are analyzed. Resultsshow that the regional tourism development in western China have significantdifference, larger and the absolute difference in expanding, and relative differences indecreasing. Further analysis in this paper, the causes of the regional differences: one isthe regional economic development level differences, the second is the location andresources endowment differences are three regional tourism policy differences, four isthe difference between tourism infrastructure.
