Abstract


With the increase of financial products, more and more risk factors have exposed.Since the1980s, commercial banks have began transformed their capital management tothe overall risk management, which focuses on the risk measurement and riskoptimization. At this point, the risk management is not only the issue of regulators, butof the commercial banks.Now the domestic commercial banks are still in the initial stage of economiccapital management, remaining gaps with the advanced foreign banks. This dissertationaims to doing research on the economic capital management theory and practice, andguiding the further application of the economic capital management.The papers consist of five chapters:Chapter Ⅰ, the introduction. The chapter introduces the research background,research significance, research method and research summary.Chapter Ⅱ, the economic capital management theory. The chapter introduces thetheory of economic capital management, including the measurement, allocation,assessment and function.Chapter Ⅲ, the practice of the domestic commercial banks. Firstly, the chapterintroduces the overview of the practice of economic capital management. Secondly, itstudies economic capital application in commercial bank Z. finally, it discusses theperformance of the economic capital management practice in bank Z.Chapter Ⅳ, the deficiencies. The chapter discusses the drawbacks of the economiccapital management practice in domestic commercial banks.Chapter Ⅴ, the advices. The chapter gives corresponding advices and strategies tothe economic capital management in domestic commercial banks.
