Abstract


With the rapid development of our national economy, private wealth accumulatesincreasingly. As a result, more and more high-end clients require financial institutions toprovide professional, personalized and comprehensive wealth management services. Thetrust system has the advantages of interest reconstruction, risk isolation and flexibility,which plays a vital role in the realization of property protection, accumulation andinheritance, and thus trust is becoming an important domestic and international wealthmanagement tools.This paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter introduction, the paper brieflystates the research background and significance, and reviewed the research of inland andabroad. The second chapter points out the huge market potential of private wealth and greatprospect for the development of wealth management business. Beginning from studyingdevelopment course of wealth management in foreign countries, the third chaptersummarizes the UBS and Citigroup’s wealth management model. Meanwhile, the papercompares the wealth management business in private banks, securities companies, fundmanagement companies, third-party financial planning firms and trust companies. Thefourth chapter, based on the basic concepts of trust, reveals the superiority of trust systemto illustrate its application in the field of wealth management. The fifth chapter uses SWOTmodel to conduct a comprehensive analysis, summarizing in detail the advantages anddisadvantages of trust companies and the opportunities and threats faced by trustcompanies, then takes China Foreign Economy and Trade Trust Co., Ltd as a case study toelaborate. The sixth chapter, on the basis of the above analysis, takes external and internalenvironment as two major aspects putting forward some advice on promoting thedevelopment of trust companies in wealth management business.
