Abstract


On account of historical and political factors, in the past 60 years the isolation and confrontation of the Cross-straits not only resulted in the interruption of information communication across the Straits, but also made our Taiwan compatriots lacking awareness of the mainland. Here we come into the best period of the Cross-straits relationship in the history. However, our publicity to the other side of the Taiwan Straits sill waddles behind the development of both sides. We face strongly the importance and pressing need to improve the mode of transmission. It is the key purpose of the transmission toward Taiwan that the attitude and behavior of the public in Taiwan towards the mainland should be changed to create an advantaged atmosphere of public opinion for the Cross-straits peaceful reunification. In this stage of peace and development across the Straits, the mainland should seize the opportune moment:we should put forth effort to create the characters of unique glamour of the mainland; we should straddle the gaps in social system and culture between the two sides; and we should strengthen the motherland identity and the national sense of belonging of the public in Taiwan.The character of the mainland has been deeply influenced by the political relationship of the Cross-straits which is still changing. For now, there are deficiencies in the transmission towards Taiwan for portraying the characters of the mainland. The reason that has led to these insufficiencies came from both sides of the Straits. Than, in the future transmission towards Taiwan, how should we do to improve the characters of the mainland to better coordinate current policies to Taiwan? First, it should be realized that there are diversifications of the transmission towards Taiwan in the new situation. Second, the character positioning of the mainland should be reconsidered in an accurate way. Last but not least, the cooperation of the Cross-straits TV media should be strengthened to reduce the misunderstanding efficiently. TV is the most direct media tool for people communication across the Straits, and also the most intuitionistic media for the publicity of the mainland characters. Give full play to the advantages of TV media, the TV media of the mainland will go global and exhibit the real mother land to the public of Taiwan. And in this way, we will create more harmonious atmosphere for faster achievement of peaceful unification.
