Abstract


Conceptual design has profound influence on product’s competitive power. Design methods have been used in conceptual design phase. However, conceptual design is still facing challenges. The conceptual design models in existence are lack of describing schemes generating process. Schemes generating process is an important phase for designer to use his creativity. Describing schemes generating process is better for understanding the designer’s intent, spreading design knowledge and computer aid design. Studying on the zigzagging in axiomatic design, this paper focuses on schemes generating process modeling and decision-making. The contributions are as follows:(1) On the aspect of decision-making in engineering, this paper presents a schemes generating process model based on graph theory.(2) In order to use this schemes generating process model in zigzagging, this paper presents a graphic hierarchy model which describes the hierarchy of FRs, the hierarchy of DPs, prepared DPs, the schemes generating process from FR domain to DP domain, the best scheme.(3) Based on graph theory and AHP, this paper presents a scheme optimization method for schemes generating process model.(4) Using metamodeling technology, a prototype system of graphic hierarchy modeling system is realized in GME. This system is easy to use and provides a simple tools for conceptual design process modeling.(5) The theory and tools presented in this paper is used in the conceptual design on ^and examing and rewinding machine. This two cases show that the theory and tools in this paper is effective.
