Abstract


As the representative of ending Chinese kneeling era, folding furniture, which is found from ordinary people to noble. In the modern, folding furniture is required to update from time to time. The furniture is not confined to its original function, but develop its multi-function and pay more attention to the spirits it showed:the value of spiritual and the spirit of the times. So the folding furniture is widely used to our daily life, routine work, entertainment, catering and so on.On the basis of reviewing literature and criticizing text, as the guide of basic concept and definition, the research analyses the connotation and definition of the folding furniture and interfolding furniture, then induce the unique cultural connotation of designing works, for the element of folding. On the basis of these, according to the clues of history development, by virtue of appearance and development, reviewing its application, the folding furniture is summed up to three features in structure, material and its function. At last, by virtue of drawing lessons and distinguishing the innovation designing of modern furniture from traditional folding furniture, the research discuss the designing method and connotative significance which is reflected by application and innovation of modern folding furniture.These philosophical perspectives of Chinese traditional furniture:the morality, the glassware, the harmony between man and nature, getting rid of decoration, emphasizing quality and practical usage, simple and so on, which embodies the extensive knowledge and profound meaning of Chinese creation culture and wisdom of the ancients. This paper is researching folding furniture with the related knowledge of philosophy, esthetics, designing, for the clues of history, discussing theory and practical examples, analyzing the process in gradual way, give today’s designing environment of "ecological, senior and people-oriented" with new connotation and meaning. We not only let the folding furniture of "transforming, tasting and experiencing" reflects the consumer’s attitude to life, but also shows the innovation designing and new thought.
